Brand
Natura Despalada 500g
Natura is a relatively young brand on the Argentine market, the company itself was founded in 1992 under the name S.A.N.E.S.A., while the Yerba Mate Natura brand was probably created even later. The plantation is located in the province of Misiones, in the city of Obera, which is famous as a stronghold of niche plantations producing yerba according to tradition.
The dried herb is medium-sized leaves with an admixture of a large amount of smaller ones, a negligible amount of sticks and a moderate portion of dust.
The smell is quite mild, freshly bitter, supported by an aroma reminiscent of walnut.
Taste: The foreground is quite intensely bitter. The notes of walnut perfectly match the typical woody smokiness, which surprisingly lasts in the mouth for a long time. After a while, the foreground duo reveals modest acidity, which shamefully complements the background in the range of taste. At a later stage, the infusion reveals a hint of natural sweetness. The finish returns to smoky-bitter climates, however. It leaves a pleasant medium-intensity astringency on the tongue and palate. With subsequent infusions, the acidity gains a bit in strength, but does not break through the foreground.
The whole thing is on the border between characteristic niche yerba yerbas, especially popular in the city of Obera, and good, proven classics from large producers such as Molinos Rio de la Plata S.A.
