Hops is a proven remedy for insomnia and sedation. It will also help relieve the symptoms of menopause, pain roots and get rid of dandruff. This is due primarily be a substance called xanthohumol - the compound group of the flavonoids, which has strong antioxidant properties (4-fold higher than vitamin C). In addition, it helps to fight viruses, fungi and bacteria. It also shows antitumor activity, including induces the enzymes that are responsible for the detoxification of carcinogens, and inhibits angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels through which the tumor gets the substances necessary for the development).

Hops can prevent the development of cancer!
Some of the substances contained in hops may prevent cancer, especially those whose development depends on the level of estrogen in the body. This is confirmed by studies using a breast cancer cell lines named SK-BR-3. The experiment was three substances contained in hops - xanthohumol, isoxanthohumol (flavanone) and 8-prenylonaryngenina (8-PN - the flavanone). We found that these compounds inhibit aromatase activity - an enzyme responsible for the synthesis of estrogens. Furthermore initiated apoptosis (cell death), and decreased proliferation (proliferation) of tumor cells (partly due to insufficient availability of estrogen due to reduced activity of aromatase).
Moreover, xanthohumol and its oxidized derivatives - ksantoaurenol (XAL) - depending on the dose - initiated tumor cell death of prostate cancer cells both hyperplasia (BPH-1), as well as in malignant prostate cancer (lane called PC3).
Xanthohumol in vitro study also proved effective in the fight against lymphocytic leukemia B-cells. In this case, the observed induction of cancer cell death dose-dependent.
